The Mill Meadow

The Mill Meadow is accessed by a gate to the left of the Mill Garden. Visitors are free to wander around the meadow at their own speed. You can also follow the Tree Trail which extends around both halves of the meadow.
The Meadow
The first part of the meadow is an open field surrounded by hedges and trees, perfect for picnics and stretching your legs. You can access the Miller's Garden from the bottom of this meadow.

The Wildflower Meadow
The second part of the meadow, across the stream footbridge, features at its centre a beautiful 'labyrinth' of wild flowers intersected by mown paths. The paths in the meadow enable visitors to see numerous plants that may be in flower, depending on the time of the year and the weather.

Here are some of the flowers you might see:

- Red Clover - Trifolium Pratense
- Birdsfoot Trefoil - Lotus Corniculatus
- Great Burnet - Sanguisorba Officinalis
- Yellow Rattle - Rhinanthus Minor
- Oxeye Daisy - Leucanthemum Vulgare
- Meadow Buttercup - Ranunculus Acris
- Fritillary - Fritillaria Meleagris
- Cowslip - Primula Veris
- Field Scabious - Knautia Arvensis
- Lady's Bedstraw - Galium Verum
- Black Knapweed - Centaurea Nigra
- Meadowsweet - Filipendula Ulmaria
Top Meadow Pool
You'll find the Top Meadow Pool at the top of the wildflower meadow. In February the Marsh Marigolds are already blooming.
