Volunteers' Work Days

Work Days are held at the New Hall Mill every Thursday, from 10 am until 4 pm. On Work Days, the volunteers help to conserve, repair, and upgrade the mill buildings and grounds, undertaking the many tasks that are needed to maintain them in good condition and prepare them for future Open Days.
We welcome volunteers of all ages, skilled or unskilled - and you do not need to be an expert on mills!
Tasks that are undertaken are many and varied, ranging from repairs within the mill such as replacing broken drive belts powering various machines or replacing rotten floor boards, installing or rebuilding sections of poor quality walling, repainting the storage huts around the site, maintenance of the garden and grounds throughout the year, growing potted plants and garden produce for sale on Open Days.
You can see some of the progress made on Work Days in the News section.
How to get involved
You can drop in to the mill on any of our Work Days between 10 am and 2 pm to see what the Friends of New Hall Mill do. Ask any of our volunteers for directions, and they will deliver you to someone who can help.
